Hindi Diwas
“Losing the language means losing the culture. We need to know who we are because it makes a difference in who our children are.”
- Dottie LeBeau
In a bid to celebrate Hindi, the official language of India (besides English), the students and faculty of NPSI celebrated Hindi Diwas with fervor.
After seeking the blessings of the almighty with a song dedicated to God Saraswati, the programme began with thoughtful speeches in English and Hindi. Grade 9 students crooned to the tune of a popular Hindi song, ‘Ye Waqt Na Thehra Hai’ which talks about respecting time.
Based on the theme ‘Navarasa’ or 9 emotions, students across grade 6 to 10 took to the stage with music and dance performances to exhibit laughter, anger, valour etc. The colourful costumes and sprightly performances kept the audience engaged.
The program ended with a vote of thanks.
The Hindi Diwas celebration reminded all of the importance of not just Hindi but local languages as well. The comfort the confidence and the ease with which they performed was heartening to note.
