Enviro 2014 - Competition

Industrial Waste Management Association (IWMA) with Science Olympiad Foundation conducted an interschool competition at the IIT – M campus. Of the 78 schools (314 students) that participated, 20 students were shortlisted for the finals. Vishaal Kumar of Grade 5 participated in poster making was given a participation certificate, while, G. Vishnu Priya of grade 7 went on to the final round and bagged a special prize in the middle school category.

Following the events was a workshop for students, teachers and parents who were present at the venue. The workshop involved the depiction of practical experiment based learning with a few examples, like liquid nitrogen and its effect on various materials and the impact of low/high pressure on a ping-pong ball.

The event was presided over by Dr. Natarajan, Professor of Physics. Dignitaries present were Ms. R. Lalitha, Deputy Commissioner – Education, Mr. Mani, Chairman of IWMA and other professors of IIT and IWMA.

The event focused on the importance of being eco-friendly, managing waste and conserving our resources.

The workshop was attended by the Science faculty of NPSI, Chennai, Ms. K. Bhargavi and Ms. Parvathy S.
