Ganamrutham 2017

Music is a language that enhances the spirit and the mind. At NPSI, we encourage our children to sing and enjoy music. The Young Early Learning and the Primary children displayed their musical talents through the annual music event Ganamrutham. Held on March 11, 2017, the occasion was graced by our Chairman, Dr. K P Gopalkrishna. The Chief Guest for the programme was the renowned musician Shri Papanasam Ashok Ramani. Ms. Lalitha Das, our Administrator and Ms. Josheta, a member of the NPS Teacher Training Cell also honoured us with their presence in the event.

The show began with the recital of energetic, foot-tapping songs on nature, helping hands etc. by our Montessori and Kindergarten Juniors and Seniors. It was a treat to listen to the young and exuberant students. This year being the 100th birth anniversary year of one of India’s renowned singer Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi, our primary students from grade 2 to 5 dedicated their first song to her by singing one of hers. The students of each grade sang a medley of songs some devotional, about nature, folk songs etc. The chosen numbers were picked from wide array languages – from Tamil to Hindi, English, Bengali, Assamese, Sanskrit, Gujarathi and even South African. Each of these songs were rendered with great passion and involvement as the dignitaries and parents encouraged the children through their concert recital.

The Chief Guest appreciated the children for their hard work and their musical talents as they were able to render the songs in tune to the shruti, laya and tala. The Chairman spoke about the future of education and advised parents to encourage children to choose their careers. Our Principal, Mrs. Sudha Balan, appreciated the hard work and efforts put in by the students, teachers and the Music Department.

She also thanked the accompanying musicians who played to the tunes of the song.

The event was a huge success with all the visitors enjoying the concert.
