Independence Day (15 August, 2016)

The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with a high degree of patriotic spirit on August 15, 2016. Students participated with great enthusiasm. They were in white while the staff was in Saffron, White and Green keeping in tune with the tricolor. The school was blazing in Saffron, White and Green, the mobiles made by the students were spinning as if they were a part of the celebration.

Janani, the school prefect, began the solemn ceremony with a welcome and a speech on the glory that is India. The flag was hoisted by the Principal, Ms.Sudha Balan, followed by the salute.

The event included patriotic songs – ‘Tamizh Thaivazhthu’, ‘Vande maataram’and ‘Hey mere watan ke logon’. The speech in Tamil by Ms. Uma was highly motivational which aroused the patriotic feelings of all those present. It was an inspiring and thought provoking speech which had students and teachers applauding and cheering.

The Principal spoke about the freedom fighters, the date line of our freedom struggle, she emphasized some important dates and the events that occurred on those dates which remain unforgotten in the annals of our history. Vishnu Priya, the School Vice-prefect, gave the Vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

Flags and Candies were distributed to staff and students and to highlight the Independence Day, drawing and colouring competitions were conducted, the topic was ‘Celebrating Independence Day’. Students had various science fun activities and experiments which left all of them in a mood of happiness and joy.
