Muthamizh Vizha

NPSI, Chennai celebrated the Bharathi day, Thiruvalluvar day and Pongal day as Muthamizh Vizha on the 18th of January 2017. The students were in attire to suit their roles. They depicted themselves as famous Tamil poets, leaders, heroes and kings that included Bharathiyar, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, Thiruvalluvar, Gandhiadigal, Kodikathakumaran and Bharathidasan.

The show began with a scene in heaven where the Tamil poets and leaders lament about the current scenario in the world.

It included a debate Panpadu Kalaacharam Seerazhiya Kaaranam Pannama! Pazhakkama! Students were vocal and put forth the points with conviction. Each one had an opinion and they supported wit with facts and convincing statements.

Students spoke with fluency in Tamil on topics like Bharathi Kanda Pudumai Pen, Bharathiyum, Avvaiyarum and Pongal Vizha. The Tamil poems were well- written and well rendered.

No show is complete without dance and music. Students danced for the song “onnagala eduthupottuka”. Both were extremely catchy, peppy and vibrant.

Veerapandiya Kattabomman drama was extremely well presented with students taking their roles as if they were born for it.

Muthamizh Vizha was indeed rich in its Tamil culture and tradition.
