Plunge - 2016

On July 30, 2016, our school hosted Plunge - the inter-school fest. Several schools in the vicinity participated in the multiple events and competitions that were held. The day started at 9:00 a.m. as the participants were received at the registration desks. At the AV room, Ms. Indumathy and Ms.Vijayalakshmi welcomed and addressed the gathering. Student co-ordinators of Grade 9 - Jameel Ahmed and Rhea Attokaran explained the rules for the LabWiz, Writing Burst and Speech Craft while Mr. Krishna explained the rules and regulations of Scrabble.

The Labwiz competition saw 9 schools compete against each other to construct a working model of the hydraulic crane using the given materials and the instruction sheet. The teams comprising 3 students each were also required to answer a quiz sheet within the stipulated time. VelsVidyashram and Apex Ponvidyashram were the 1st and 2nd place winners of the event.

Speech craft tested the ability of students to prepare on the given topic and deliver a speech. The topics based on the environment brought out varying views, strategies and solution to the many environmental issues. Students from Hiranandani Upscale School and GTA VidyaMandirwon the first two prizes. Students also enthusiastically participated in the Writing Burst/ Creative writing competition that required them to write an inspiring 500 word essay as to how they won the best Science project award. The essays of PSBB Millennium, OMR and VelsVidhyashram were awarded the 1st and the 2nd prize trophies.The game of Scrabble/Word wiz generated a lot of excitement and enthusiasm as the participants tried their best to outwit their fellow partners. At the end of 3rounds, the students of NPS Gopalapuram emerged winners.

The eventful day culminated with the announcement of the winners and the overall champions and were awarded the trophies by our Principal, Mrs.SudhaBalan. The championship trophy was shared between VelsVidhyashram and NPS Gopalapuram schools. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rhea, our Grade 9 student.
