Van Mahotsav (1 - 7 July, 2016)

Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival in India. This movement was initiated in the year 1950 by India's Union Minister for Agriculture, Kulapati Dr.K M Munshi.Every year July first week is celebrated as Van mahotsave week where schools and various institutions create awareness among students and public about the importance of trees. This year in our school the van mahotsav week was celebrated with the visit to nizhal eco Tree Park in adayar on 1st July, 2016 by grade VIII A and B. There the volunteers explained about the indigenous tree varieties and its medicinal values. A treasure hunt activity to find the tree was organized which made the students to involve with great interest. The van mahotsav week ended with the planting of saplings inside the school campus by grade VII A and B on 7th July, 2016. These programmes made the students realize the importance of trees and feel the necessity of plants around us.
