Assembly Grade 2B, 2023-2024
Coastal States of India- West Bengal
The Class Assembly for Grade 2B was conducted on 1st March’24, Friday. The students of grade 2B performed on the topic of the coastal state of West Bengal. It was the first time that the students were performing on stage for their assembly. They had shared a thought for the day by Rabindranath Tagore, some facts on West Bengal- like its capital city, on the language of the state, the famous dishes, the tourist attractions and not to forget spoke about the famous personalities from West Bengal. Students were dressed in the traditional attire of West Bengal; five students had played the role of the famous personalities, and they were dressed accordingly. There was a short skit, performed by the students, on ‘Devi Durga Agaomoni’, Devi Durga coming to earth to win over the evil Mahishasura. It was both a narrative and a small dance drama performed by the students followed by a group dance on a Bengali song based on Devi Durga. This was followed by a quiz round wherein some selected students of Grade 2B asked the other students of grades 1 and 2 who were in the audience. These questions were based on the facts being shared in the first half of the assembly. After the quiz was a group song performed by the whole class on a Bengali Song – ‘Amra Sabai Raja’ by Rabindranath Tagore. After the group song was the vote of thanks given by a student of Grade 2B.
This whole event was conducted by Grade 2B and for the first time the students performed in front of an audience where they got an opportunity not only to perform dance and song but also to speak. This was the first time that each one of the students got an opportunity to speak on stage. This was both a learning experience and a memorable moment for the students. They enjoyed it thoroughly and were much appreciated for their performance by both the teachers and their parents. The parents of Grades 1 and 2 were invited to watch the show.
Students were much appreciated by the Principal, and all the teachers. Parents too enjoyed their performance and were all praises about it. The whole program was directed and scripted by the class teacher of Grade 2B – Ms. Ishita Basu.
