Grade 8 Expert Talk - Animal Shelter
Chennai’s Urban Jungle Unveiled
The "Chennai – The Wildside" program recently turned the city’s bustling streets into a living classroom for middle schoolers, proving that nature thrives even amidst the concrete. Students from Grades 6, 7, and 8 were invited to look past the traffic and discover a hidden ecosystem right in their backyards. By redefining the urban landscape as a shared sanctuary, the session sparked a genuine sense of wonder about the local creatures we often overlook.
Ms Krithi Muruganantham brought high-level conservation to life by sharing firsthand stories from her work with the Forest Department, showing how professional wildlife protection actually functions. Beside her, Mr Dinesh Baba from the ROA Shelter offered a gritty, heartfelt look at animal rescue. He walked students through the realities of rehabilitating injured animals and the delicate art of handling aggressive rescues with patience and skill.
This wasn't just a lecture; it was a call to action. By blending the urgency of ecological preservation with practical tales of animal welfare, the event left these young minds with a profound commitment to stewardship. They walked away not just with facts but with the realisation that the city’s wild legacy depends on their empathy and voice, ensuring a future where humans and urban wildlife coexist in harmony.
