Moments of Mystery, Magic and Music 2024
The Global Montessori Centre, Perumbakkam (A Unit of NPS Group of Institutions) celebrated the culmination of the academic year 2023-2024 in a unique style over three days from March 20th to March 22nd, 2024. True to the name of the event 'Moments of Mystery, Magic, and Music,' the event was a delightful blend of excitement and warmth for children, parents, and teachers alike.
The ground was set up with comfortable floor seating and shamianas with adequate lighting. Food stalls were available with a wide variety of evening snacks for all the parents and children. As parents and children walked in, they were warmly greeted by their teachers with big smiles.
The festivities commenced on a magical note with captivating performances by the juggler and magician, leaving the audience in awe with their extraordinary skills. The juggler entered with a bang on a unicycle which held everyone’s attention. He then used several items such batons and tumblers to present his act. He even invited the children to participate and try their hand at juggling..
The magician enthralled the audience with unique tricks including pulling out colourful scarves out of umbrellas and even white doves out of pieces of cloth. The mystical music background added much effect to the show. The magician ended his act with a floating table which received loud rounds of applause.
The musical segment featured participation from both children and teachers, with parents joining in later to create a harmonious atmosphere. Songs like ‘Vandi Varudhu’ and ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ saw the little children sing with animated expressions and actions. It was indeed delightful to hear the little ones sing fun rhymes and songs to the cues of their teachers.
Several games were organised which had children and parents participating actively, resulting in loud cheers and peals of laughter. Small circles with groups of children led by the teacher engaged in games that saw the children jump with joy.
Teachers engaged the audience with a storytelling session, presenting a mystery for children and parents to solve together. Captivating narration along with dramatic gestures by the teachers had the children watching and listening to every twist and turn in the story. The teachers followed the narration word on word with their actions which made it easy for the children to follow and enjoy.
The mystical evening concluded with families collaborating on creating art, providing a memorable keepsake of their joyful time spent together. Notes of thanks and gratitude were penned by parents and students which they then affixed on a memory tree. As parents and children were involved in creating the collaborative art, teachers took the moment to have informal chats with all the parents. As parents and children walked towards the exit, they were left with warm memories of an evening well-spent.
