Assembly Grade 12, 2024-2025
It is funny how unpredictable and inexpressible nostalgia is, the way it bubbles up and propels one into a vague past. It is plain that in a decade or so, the 2024-25 batch of Grade 12 students from NPSI will look back on their last year of high school and recall their final assembly with sheepish smiles. As they remember the chaos and mayhem from their run-throughs and practice sessions, they will also remember the cohesive collaboration and effort put in by each and every student as they strived to put on a final great show.
Grade 12 chose the topic “Nostalgia” – a topic they found to be quite fitting considering it is their final year at school. The assembly focused on the common belief they all share – that life was much easier and a good deal more enjoyable when they were younger. They performed renditions of various songs, dances and re-enacted their favourite cartoon shows. Despite having to juggle student responsibilities and assembly practices, they put on an entertaining show.
The scripting team carefully crafted every dialogue in the script to ensure that the audience would be entertained, and the quiz team put in effort to design an engaging set of questions to delight the audience. The speakers orated with confidence. The singers and dancers put forward their best and this was evident in the the audience's revelling applause after every segment.
The dictionary definition of nostalgia is “a feeling of pleasure, mixed with sadness, when you think of happy times in the past.” Though the students were thinking about “present times”, they believe the word nostalgia perfectly describes how they felt on the 19th of July, 2024.
