Reading Week

To celebrate Reading Day, our school conducted a "Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)" programme for students from Grades 1 to 5. During the scheduled reading time, all students paused their regular classroom activities and engaged in silent reading, encouraging the habit of reading for pleasure and fostering a love for books.

As part of Reading Week celebrations, different reading-based activities were organized for each grade level to promote reading comprehension, creativity, communication, and imagination.

Reading Week was celebrated with a variety of engaging, grade-specific activities designed to foster reading habits, comprehension, creativity, communication, and a lifelong love for books.

Grade 1 students participated in a Book Talk, where they discussed books in pairs by asking and answering simple comprehension questions, strengthening their speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. Grade 2 students enjoyed Guided Spinner Reading, using a question spinner to respond to prompts about their chosen books, encouraging discussion and deeper understanding.

Grade 3 students took part in an exciting Book Bingo activity. After reading individual books, they answered comprehension questions and marked their Bingo cards for each correct response, making reading both interactive and enjoyable. Grade 4 students transformed their favourite stories into Comic Strips, creatively illustrating characters, events, and dialogues while enhancing sequencing and visual storytelling skills. Grade 5 students showcased their imagination through Judge a Book by Its Cover, designing original book covers with creative titles and illustrations that reflected the given story concepts.

The week concluded on a high note, with enthusiastic participation across all grades. The activities successfully nurtured reading, critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills while making reading a fun, meaningful, and enriching experience for every student.
