Celebrating Ramanujan
December 22nd is a red-letter day as it marks the birth anniversary of our own Math genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The day is celebrated as National Mathematics Day. In felicitation of this Math wonder, special session were held involving students across grade 1 to 8 in Math activities on 21.12.2020.
Videos that took us through the journey of the math genius from his young days through his struggles, his love for Math and his premature end were shown to the children. Apart from these videos, a range of activities were conducted.
The Primary children were tasked to create pixel art – based on the answers to simple Mathematical operations, the cells would brighten up with different colours to ultimately create an art image. The middle school students were given different challenges that ranged from storyline with a quest to unlock the nine gems through mathematical calculations to solving anagrams and counting the geometrical shapes in the given picture. The sessions were fun-filled with the children competing against one another to complete the task within the stipulated time.
The day was a true remembrance for the great mathematican.
