Independence Day 2023

The 77th Independence Day celebration at NPSI Chennai was a vibrant and patriotic event that brought the students and teachers together to commemorate the day. The decors of tricolours hung from the galleries and the corridors of the school lent a festive nature to the atmosphere.

Dressed in pristine white, the students of grades 3 to 12 gathered around the quadrangle. The Flag hoisting by our Principal accompanied by the salute and the rendering of the Flag song set the stage for the event. This was followed by a speech by the principal reflecting on the significance of the day and the role played by the freedom fighters, both known and unknown.

A mellifluous song by the senior students ‘Dhono Dhane’, a verse from Rabindra Sangeeth, invoked nationalist feelings in one and all and was further reinforced by speeches in Hindi and Tamil by the faculty.

Nagar Sankeerthanam, an age-old practice wherein people gathered to sing and propogate devotion and patriotism through music was revived.

The students marched around the school rekindling the spirit of patriotism, devotion and brotherhood.

No event dedicated to the nation is ever complete without the fervent singing of the National Anthem which drew the curtains on the celebrations.
