Assembly Grade 7C
This year has been unique in many ways and it was only apt that we picked the theme ‘Music’ for our virtual assembly. While humanity is shelved with differences, music transcends all variances and has deep-seated roots in its use across disciplines. Bringing together a set that would do justice to this theme took us a good week, with our skit rolling through four days in scripting and two days to compile.
Students initiated the program with an introduction to music, its impact and relevance in various arenas like the medical field where its therapeutic tinges have found a niche. Students then collated a “guess the raga” segment where Indian music took centre stage, and shed light on how it has the ability to impact human emotions. A prominent example of this being the legendary singer Tansen who’s rendition of raag Deepak could conjure flames and a twist into raag Megh Malhar would make the heavens pour. A pop quiz followed covering musical strings from the east to west. The concluding program was a skit titled ‘Music has no boundaries’, and how it has the ability to forge new relationships and win all hearts.
We had a stellar time putting all this together, with a tune or two to help us along the way!
