Young Authors' Day 2025-2026
Young Authors Day (YAD) was organised as a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the joy of storytelling. The event provided a meaningful platform for the students of Grades 4 and 5 to present themselves as confident young writers and storytellers, while also fostering a deep appreciation for literature among parents and the school community.
As a preparatory step, before the students began their writing journey, the English teachers guided them through the different genres of writing and the essential parts of a story using the concept of the Story Mountain. Students were encouraged at every stage to explore their ideas freely, develop strong plots, and express their thoughts with confidence. This structured guidance laid a strong foundation for the stories that followed.
As part of the event, students authored their own original stories, which were thoughtfully compiled into handmade books. These books, representing the sincere efforts of young authors, were attractively displayed on dedicated stands. The stories were written across eight different genres, showcasing the wide range of imagination, perspectives, and writing styles of the students. The book display area was interactive and welcoming. Slot-timed student volunteers were stationed near the stands to warmly invite parents to pick up any book of their choice, explore different genres, and enjoy reading the students’ work. Parents appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with books, making the experience personal and enriching.
In addition to the book showcase, the event featured four special activities, each conducted in multiple time slots, ensuring that all parents had the opportunity to witness and enjoy the performances.
One of the most engaging segments was “Meet the Character,” where students dressed up and portrayed characters from their own stories. Speaking in character, they interacted with parents, bringing their stories to life and demonstrating confidence, creativity, and expressive skills.
This was followed by “Meet the Author,” an interview-style session where a student interviewer posed thoughtful and interesting questions to a panel of young authors. The segment offered insights into the students’ inspiration, writing process, and imaginative worlds, while also highlighting their communication skills.
Another highlight was “Epic Voices,” a dramatic reading segment where students read excerpts from books written by their peers, along with selected passages from well-known literary works. The expressive narration and voice modulation added depth and emotion, captivating the audience.
The event also featured a segment titled “Skit Factory,” during which one story, each from Grades 4 and 5 was enacted on stage. These skits were performed by students of the respective grades and were received with great appreciation for their clarity, teamwork, and stage presence.
Young Authors Day was a well-organised and inspiring event that celebrated young voices, originality, and the power of storytelling. It helped students develop confidence, collaboration, creativity, and a sense of pride in their work. The event truly reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing lifelong readers and writers.
