Young Entrepreneurship Programme and Market Day Report
NPS International, Chennai conducted the Young Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP) and Market Day on 13 December 2025 with the aim of introducing students to basic entrepreneurial concepts such as planning, budgeting, teamwork and financial responsibility. Students from Grades 6 to 8 participated in the programme.
The initiative began with the YEP Pitch Session held in August 2025. During this session, students presented their business ideas to parents and requested seed funding for their proposed products. This activity helped students understand how to present ideas clearly, explain costs, and consider simple investment decisions.
After the pitch session, students worked in groups to plan their projects. They purchased raw materials, organised production schedules, tracked expenses and collaborated to create their products. This phase allowed students to apply basic financial planning and teamwork skills in a practical setting.
Prior to Market Day, students carried out promotional activities within the school. They introduced their products through jingles, short role plays and verbal presentations. Students explained product features, pricing and usage, which helped them practise communication and customer interaction.
On Market Day, students set up stalls to display and sell their products. Parents visited the stalls, interacted with the students and supported them by purchasing items. The products included bookmarks, pouches, crochet items, lanterns, framed artwork, fridge magnets, coasters, key chains, scented candles, bracelets, earrings and other handmade goods.
Overall, the Young Entrepreneurship Programme and Market Day provided students with practical exposure to the stages of running a small venture, from idea generation to sales. The programme supported experiential learning by allowing students to apply classroom concepts in a real-life context.
